Donald A. Powell:

Born June 13, 1953, in Orange, New Jersey; graduated cum laude University of Scranton (May 1974), receiving a degree of Bachelor of Arts; graduated Rutgers, The State University, School of Law, Camden, New Jersey (June 1977), receiving a degree of Juris Doctor.

Served as Law Secretary to the Honorable Peter J. Devine, Jr., presiding Judge of the Superior Court, Chancery Division (September 1977 through August 1978).


Admitted to practice
as an Attorney at Law and Counsellor at Law in the New Jersey State Courts and in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in December, 1977; admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in December 1980; admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America in May 1981.

Court appointed Arbitrator and Civil Settlement Panelist for the counties of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem.

Founding partner of the present firm of Powell, Birchmeier & Powell.


Member: American Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, Cape May County Bar Association, Gloucester County Bar Association (member Civil Practice Committee, June 1993 to date),  New Jersey Defense Association, Defense Research Institute, American Arbitration Association.

Member Upper Township Chamber of Commerce.


Mr. Powell's area of practice is Civil Trial Law, including: Negligence Law, Product Liability, Premises Liability, Construction Law, Insurance Law, Personal Injury Law, Automobile Negligence Law, Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists Law, Public Entity Law, Worker's Compensation.

Mr. Powell also supervises the General Practice areas, including Real Estate, Wills and Probate, Collection and Subrogation..
